Isla Mujeres Yacht Charters
The most requested day on the water in the Mexican Caribbean: a private boat from Cancún to Isla Mujeres, with the sandbar, snorkeling at El Farito or MUSA, and a few hours at Playa Norte.
The route, stop by stop
You board between nine and ten in the morning. The crossing takes about half an hour from the northern marinas. First stop is usually the sandbar — waist-deep water so clear you can see your feet — then a snorkeling stop at El Farito reef or the MUSA underwater sculpture museum. Around midday most boats pull into Playa Norte, regularly voted one of the best beaches in the world, where you get a few hours ashore. On the way back the captain usually swings past the cliffs at Punta Sur.
Playa Norte or Punta Sur
These are two different days. Playa Norte is the social one: boats anchor side by side, music plays, and there are beach clubs a few steps away. Punta Sur, on the southern tip, is calmer and increasingly where the larger yachts go — shallow turquoise flats, far fewer boats, better photographs. Tell the captain which one you want and he will build the day around it.
Private, not shared
Every charter on this page is exclusive to your group. No strangers on board, no fixed schedule, no waiting for other passengers to finish. You pick the departure time, the route and how long you stay at each stop. That is the actual difference between this and the shared catamaran tours sold on the boulevard.
What it costs
A full day to Isla Mujeres starts around $700 USD on a small boat for eight and runs to $13,500 USD on the largest mega yacht. Mid-range, most groups land between $1,000 and $3,000 for six to eight hours. Captain and crew, fuel, drinks, ice, towels and snorkel gear are always included; marine park wristbands and dock fees are charged per person.

Is snorkeling included?
Yes, gear and a guide are on board every boat. The usual spots are El Farito reef, the MUSA underwater museum and the shallows off La Amada. Snorkeling is not recommended for children under seven, adults over sixty, pregnant women or anyone with a heart condition.
How long do we get on the island?
On a full-day charter, usually two to three hours ashore at Playa Norte — enough for lunch at a beach club, a walk into town or renting a golf cart. On a half-day trip you stay on the water and skip the walk.
Can we eat on the island instead of on board?
Yes, several restaurants have their own dock. Keep in mind the boat clock keeps running while you are ashore, which is why many groups prefer food on board.
What should we bring?
Swimsuit, biodegradable sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, a change of dry clothes and cash for tips. Towels are on board on most boats — ask when you book.
