We host bachelorette parties most weekends between February and August, and the ones that go best all share the same handful of decisions. Here is what we have learned.
Pick the boat by deck space, not by length
A bachelorette party lives outside. What you want is flat, shaded deck where fifteen people can stand with drinks — not cabins. That points straight at catamarans. A 45-foot catamaran gives you dramatically more usable space than a 50-foot motor yacht, plus a trampoline at the bow that becomes the group photo spot within ten minutes of leaving the dock.
The real cost per person
Because charters are priced per boat, the maths works in your favour with a group. A catamaran at $1,700 USD for four hours split between fifteen guests is roughly $113 each, and that already includes the unlimited open bar, food and snorkel gear. Add the government dock fee of $10 to $20 per person at boarding. Compare that with a beach club table plus bottle service and the boat usually wins outright.
Timing that actually works
Book the morning departure, around 9:00 am. Three reasons: the sea is calmest, the light is best for photos, and everyone is back at the hotel by mid-afternoon with the whole evening still ahead. Afternoon charters sound appealing but they collide with dinner plans and the water is choppier after 3:00 pm.
Music, decoration and catering
Every boat has a Bluetooth sound system — bring your own playlist, that is the easiest win. Beyond that we can arrange balloon and floral decoration, a dedicated DJ, extra catering beyond the standard menu, and a photographer who knows where the light is best on the boat. The details people forget
- Transportation: we can pick up the whole group from your hotel or Airbnb. Fifteen people in taxis at 8:00 am is chaos; one van is not.
- Reef-safe sunscreen: required at the snorkel stops. Tell the group beforehand.
- A cake needs a cooler. Let us know and we will have space ready.
- Glass: avoid bringing glass on board. We serve in acrylic for a reason.
- Capacity is legal, not flexible. If you are 22 people, you need a boat rated for 22 — we will not overload one.
The boats we suggest most
For 12 to 20 guests, the Lagoon 42 or Leopard 44. For 20 to 30, the Lagoon 45 or Leopard 51. For a large party of 40 or more, the Caribe 65 takes up to 100 people and has a slide off the back.
