Cancún Yacht Rentals
Private yacht and catamaran charters departing from the Cancún Hotel Zone, Puerto Juárez and Puerto Cancún. Thirty minutes to Isla Mujeres, boats from 35 to 120 feet, and a price per boat rather than per person.
Where the boats leave from
Cancún has three usable departure points and the one you pick matters more than most people expect. The Hotel Zone marinas sit inside the lagoon, convenient if you are staying anywhere along the Boulevard Kukulcán. Puerto Juárez, on the north side, is the closest to Isla Mujeres — around thirty minutes on a mid-size yacht. Puerto Cancún sits between the two and is where several of the larger yachts are berthed. If you are staying in Costa Mujeres or Playa Mujeres, the northern marinas save you a long transfer.
What a day out of Cancún looks like
The classic route crosses to Isla Mujeres. Most charters stop first for snorkeling — El Meco reef, or the sunken boat off La Amada where the water is shallow enough that the fish come to you — then anchor at Playa Norte or at the sandbar. Playa Norte is where the yachts raft up and the music plays. Punta Sur, on the south end of the island, has quietly become the favourite for bigger boats: more room to anchor and that flat turquoise colour in the photos everyone wants.
Prices and what is included
Charters are priced per boat and per hour, not per person, so the bigger your group the less each guest pays. A 35-foot boat for eight people starts around $700 USD for six hours; a mid-size 44 to 60-foot yacht runs $950 to $2,200; and the mega yachts from 80 feet up go from $5,600 to $13,500. Every quote includes captain and sailor, fuel, beers, water, sodas, ice, towels, life jackets and snorkel gear. Dock fees are charged per person and quoted with your date.
Which boat for which group
For eight people or fewer the Regal 35 is the most affordable way onto the water. Between ten and twenty guests, the Sundancer 44, Sealine 45 and Azimut 58 are the value picks. Above twenty and you are choosing between the Sunseeker 75 and the Azimut 80, which carries an inflatable slide. For a hundred-plus person party the Slide Party Boat is in a category of its own, and if you want something nobody else on the beach will have, the Miami Beach 45 includes Ice Bar entry for every guest.

How far is Isla Mujeres from Cancún by boat?
About thirty minutes from Puerto Juárez and forty to fifty from the Hotel Zone marinas, depending on the vessel and the sea. The crossing is part of the day — the water turns that impossible turquoise about ten minutes out.
Do I pay per person or for the whole boat?
For the whole boat. The rate covers a base number of guests and any extras beyond that are charged individually. That is why a group of fifteen ends up paying far less per head than a couple.
Can we bring our own drinks and music?
Music yes — every boat has a Bluetooth system, so bring your playlist. Drinks depend on the vessel: the group boats let you bring your own, while the crewed yachts include beer, water and sodas and charge a corkage fee if you bring your own bottles.
What happens if the weather turns?
If the harbour master closes the port, nobody sails. You get a full refund or a free reschedule to any date you want. If the port only closes for small vessels, the larger boats still go out, usually without water activities.
