Where you board

Playa del Carmen itself has no marina deep enough for charter yachts, so boats leave from Puerto Aventuras, twenty minutes south along the highway. It is a calm gated harbour, easy to reach and easy to park at, and we can pick you up from your hotel in Playa if you prefer not to drive.

What you see

Fifteen minutes out is the INAH reef, where the snorkeling stops happen and where turtles show up regularly. South of it the coastline opens into Xpu-Ha and Party Cove, both shallow and sheltered. Full-day charters cross the channel to Cozumel and the Palancar reef, and half-day trips work beautifully as sunset runs along the coast.

Best for

This stretch suits couples, families and mid-size groups. The 42 to 51-foot sport yachts are the sweet spot for eight to fifteen guests, and the Lagoon and Leopard catamarans are the better call above fifteen, when shade and deck space matter more than speed.

Rates

Charters run from $700 USD for a smaller boat up to $2,150 for the larger catamarans, priced per boat for four, six or eight hours. Captain and crew, fuel, open bar, food, snorkel gear and paddle-boards are included. Marina and environmental fees are $20 USD per person at the dock.

FAQ

Common questions

Can we leave from a beach in Playa del Carmen?

No — charter vessels need a proper dock, and the nearest one is Puerto Aventuras. It is a twenty-minute drive and we can include transport in your quote.

Can we reach Cozumel in a day?

Yes, on an eight-hour charter. The crossing takes roughly an hour each way, which leaves good time at Palancar or El Cielo.

Are sunset cruises available?

Yes. A three or four-hour afternoon charter along the coast is one of the better-value options here, especially for couples and proposals.

Is the sea rough?

Usually not. Mornings are calmest; the water tends to pick up a little chop after three in the afternoon, more so in winter when the north winds blow.
